Summer Reading Camp

By Hailey Carpenter, student

Over this summer our school held two reading camps, organized by Mrs. Shellenbarger. Teachers and faculty volunteered to help make it great and fun for kids. The camps were held in our school library for children, preschool through sixth grade. The first Camp Read A Lot’s theme was oceans. The kids had fun reading picture books based on ocean animals and making fun hats. They were at this camp from 9am-12pm and served lunch. The second camp’s theme was pirates. The kids read pirate themed books and made hats with eye patches. Each camp had eight stations, with one of them reading in tents with flashlights. Overall, this was a fun thing to do to help and encourage kids to read!
