Mornin’ from the Mitten

By Mark Constance

Good morning Northern Michigan!

Woke up this morning to a little dusting of the white stuff, like the rest of you did, Quite the change from last week.

But honestly, we really needed the rain on Sunday and the change in temps. There were a handful of small wildfires last week because of the very dry conditions. Our regional fire departments were on top of it and there wasn’t anything significant, but we don’t want them out in the forest any more than absolutely necessary.

Even the Forest Service had trucks staging in the area near Lumberman’s Monument, where a controlled burn got out of control and burned a few thousand acres. That land was clear cut this Spring.

The Tigers have a doubleheader with Cleveland today, but I’m not sure I’d want to be sitting in Comerica Park this afternoon (or evening). We are planning a trip to a game, but it will be a ton warmer outside.

Quote of the day is from Naomi Judd:

“A dead end street is a good place to turn around.”
