‘Santa Train’ coming tomorrow!

NORTHEAST MICHIGAN – Lake State Railway (LSRC) is proud to announce the arrival of the “Santa Train.”

The train, which will bring Santa and Mrs. Claus to Standish, West Branch, Roscommon and Grayling on Dec. 3, will also act as a pickup spot for “Toys for Tots.”

Santa Train stops are scheduled in:

  • Standish – 8:30-10 a.m. at the Standish Railroad Depot, located at the corner of US-23 and M-30;
  • West Branch – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Branch Chamber of Commerce, located in the old depot at 422 West Houghton Lake Avenue;
  • Roscommon – 2:30-4 p.m. at the AuSable River Center, located at 211 North Main Street; and
  • Grayling – 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Crawford County Historical Society, located 97 East Michigan Avenue.

Lake State Railway Spokesperson Shasta Duffy said the team is pleased to be able to bring the train back to Northeast Michigan.

Lake State and our team of volunteers are excited to bring Santa and his friends to the communities in which we operate,” Duffy said. “The Santa Train is our way of giving back to not only the industries we serve, but to the employees of those industries, their families, their friends and their neighbors!

On behalf of Lake State Railway MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

Visitors are encouraged to bring their lists and a small donation for Toys for Toys. Cookies and hot chocolate will be available at each location.

Crawford and Roscommon County Spokesperson Mark Constance said the communities are looking forward to the event, which is being held the same day as Roscommon’s “Christmas in the Village.”

We appreciate Lake State and the fact they’ve chosen our area of the state for this fun and unique project,” said Roscommon and Crawford County Spokesperson Mark Constance. “They bend over backward to make it a great experience for the kids, and adults as well.”

The Santa Train experience is sponsored in part by Lake State Railway, Up North Voice, Roscommon County Sheriff Department, Crawford County Sheriff Department, Grayling Eagles Aerie #3465, Grayling Rotary Club, Roscommon Rotary Club West Branch Area Chamber of Commerce, Crawford County Historical Society, The Brook, and the Roscommon Area Recreation Authority.
