Houghton Lake movie update: Frozen Stupid 2: Open Water

CITY – Brauer Productions is very happy to announce that post production is going very well on their film ‘Frozen Stupid2:Open Water that was filmed in and around the Houghton Lake area last September. Despite the Covid19 quarantines, Director Rich Brauer and Amber Elliott continue to edit the picture, the sound, the music and assemble all the facets that go into making a full length feature film.  Brauer says “It will be ready to screen sometime this summer when the theaters hopefully open up. My company and I want to show it to audiences in person, to laugh and share the movie together, so stay tuned!” Rich Brauer sends many thanks to the people of Roscommon County who helped make this comedy family film happen.

FROZEN STUPID 2: Open Water  -the plot…

The ice is long gone. Tony’s vehicle that fell through this ice is finally getting pulled out of Houghton Lake.  His joyous moment however, is shattered when he is handed a big DNR fine for leaving it in the water so long. He has two weeks to pay.

Perfect timing. He hears about a fishing tournament in town with a hefty cash prize that very weekend. His financial problems, at least for now, could be over. As with Tony’s normal luck, it turns out the event is also the same day as his wedding anniversary.  He figures that he can win the tournament and get cleaned up and off to dinner with his wife with plenty of time to spare.

So he resurrects his dad’s old 1960’s boat and enters the competition. But his troubles are just beginning.

As in the original film, Tony stays ever buoyant, against all odds, postponing trouble, being a friend, and trying to make the best of what life throws at him.
