MSP Officers Morris and Stinson saved 67-year-old

MISSAUKEE – Troopers Darren Morris and Joshua Stinson of the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to an unconscious male who was not breathing at a gun range in Missaukee County on Thursday, May 7, 2020 shortly after 2:00 pm.  When troopers arrived, they found the son of the unconscious 67-year-old Lake City man performing CPR on his father.  The father had slumped over without warning.  The son called 911 and began CPR.  Troopers took over and accessed the victim.  He was not breathing and had no pulse.   Troopers connected the automated external defibrillator (AED) to the man and continued CPR.  A shock was then delivered using the AED and CPR resumed.  When Missaukee EMS arrived, troopers relinquished treatment and continued to assist with the patient.
The victim was transported to Cadillac Munson Hospital for further treatment.  He was later transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City where he remains in critical condition.
