REGION – With warm weather persisting throughout the month of September, locals made the most of the last days of summer.
Scott and Elana Warsen, of Mio, were among those who seized an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as summer came to an end.
‘We’ve lived here for a year, and this is our first time getting out here,’ said Scott, referring to the 10-mile canoe trip the couple took from Mio to Comins Flats on Sept. 9.
The trip, which was facilitated by Hinchman Acres in Mio, took approximately two hours and showcased such wildlife as great blue herons, wood ducks, mergansers, and bald eagles.
Hinchman Acres is one of several canoe rental companies in the region. More information is available at hinchman.com.
