From the wood burner …

Good morning Northern Michigan.

The Ogemaw Nature Park had a tremendous fundraiser yesterday at the Clear Lake Bar. Although final numbers aren’t in yet, the event raised several thousand dollars that will go toward the maintenance and upkeep of one of the unique treasures in our part of the world.

It’s located on Rose City Road between Clear Lake and Rose City. Cool place. Stop in for a visit.

I was ever so slightly bummed when I woke up this morning to see about an inch of snow in the yard. The good part is that its melting as I write this. The trees and bushes (and morels) are straining to bust out, but even they know it’s not quite time yet. But soon.

Quote of the day is from Bud Holland:

“Winter is a state of mind as much as it is a season. For people who choose not to get out of their chair and from the front of their TV, it doesn’t matter whether you live in the Bahamas or the North Pole. The view is always the same.

“But step outside that door and I’m pretty sure you’ll find the world a slightly chaotic, but pretty interesting place. Even if it includes a little Spring snow.”

What is on your agenda?

Mark
