GRAYLING — The Uncommon Ranch has announced Chef Kaytie Bowman as its new culinary lead, marking an important step in the growth of the 200-acre lavender estate, retreat destination, and cultural gathering place in Northern Michigan.

Chef Bowman brings a thoughtful, technique-driven approach to cooking, with a philosophy centered on flavor, nourishment, and human connection. Known for translating classical culinary foundations into approachable, seasonal cuisine, her work reflects deep respect for ingredients, process, and the people gathered around the table.

At The Uncommon Ranch, Bowman’s role extends far beyond menu creation. She will lead a dynamic culinary program that includes intimate dinners, wellness-focused retreat meals, hands-on cooking classes, and collaborative events with visiting chefs, artists, and musicians—reinforcing food as a central part of the Ranch experience.

“Chef Kaytie’s approach aligns seamlessly with what we are building,” said co-founder Michelle Anschuetz. “She understands that food can be elevated without being pretentious and nourishing without feeling restrictive.”

Drawing from classical training, global influences, and seasonal, regional ingredients, Bowman’s menus are designed to be refined yet generous—meals that invite guests to slow down and connect. She will also help shape The Ranch’s educational offerings, with planned workshops in sourdough, pasta, fermentation, pastry, and seasonal cooking.

“This is a place where food tells a story,” Bowman said. “It’s about honoring the land, the people, and the moment.”

As The Uncommon Ranch looks ahead to a full calendar of dinners, retreats, and community gatherings, Bowman’s arrival signals a defining step forward in its commitment to intentional hospitality and meaningful connection.
