HOUGHTON LAKE – The Houghton Lake Area Historical Society and the Music Box Historical Society are jointly sponsoring the first annual Rustic Dance Party on Jan. 28 starting at 8 p.m.
The Rustic Dance Party will be held at the Houghton Lake Historical Playhouse, located on W. Houghton Lake Dr. (M-55) in Prudenville.
The Historical Playhouse was built as a dance palace in 1926. It was known for many years as Johnson’ Rustic Dance Palace. It has one of the finest dance floors in northern Michigan.
The Rustic Dance Party is a salute to the winter dance parties of the 1950s. Music will be provided by disc jockey Andrew Clark of the online radio station Music Box Memories. Clark will play music from the 50s through current hits.
A cash bar will be available and guests must be 21 to attend.
All proceeds will go the the Houghton Lake Area Historical Society and the Music Box Historical Society.
