More NEW activities at WinterFest 2017

ROSCOMMON–WinterFest 2017, February 17 and 18, has a variety Loof NEW avenues and activities, in addition to the classic favorites everyone loves! The Saturday morning pancake breakfast (included with your $5 button), will be held at Lyon Township Hall this year, a NEW location. Rosa the Clown will be on hand for pictures and fun. Breakfast will be cooked by the local firefighters, and served by volunteers from Munson Healthcare’ Relay for Life team. The breakfast is sponsored by Munson Healthcare.

Also NEW this year is the Snowshoe Scavenger Hunt, which will be going on during the Kids Karnival at North State Park. In addition, the Kids Karnival provides games and prizes, horse drawn wagon rides, a snowman making contest, and the famous specially-made ice slide – bring your sleds! Before you head to the Kids Karnival, you’ll want to hit the CRAZY Cardboard Classic on Pioneer Hill. Bring your homemade sled, made from cardboard, paint, and duct tape – no metal, wood, etc. and see who gets down the hill fastest! There are corporate and OPEN runs for all ages. Spectators welcome! All of these events are included with your button!

The Fishing Derby, with NEW prizes and giveaways, is also included with your button, and it’ FREE fishing week-end with the DNR, and FREE entry into North State Park! Grab a friend who’ never been ice-fishing before and show them the ropes! Your fish can be caught anywhere on Higgins Lake, and brought to North State Park for the contest. Each person who enters a fish in the contest gets a ticket into the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING, as well as the drawing for biggest fish in the regular categories and age groups. While you’re out there, make sure you keep and turn in any tagged fish – the Big ‘Catch Me If You Can’ contest is still going on during WinterFest, too! Take a break to warm up indoors at the Chili Cook-Off – yes, included with your button!

North State Park is the site of the rival Broomball game ($100 per team). Current champions? Jim’ Collision holds that honor. The snowmobile Radar Run ($10 entry) is a great chance to test your speed on the lake!

The NEW location for the ‘AfterGlow Party’ will be Streamside Restaurant. We’ve got a variety of very fun, high-quality auction items! Like Golf? We’ve got courses to play! Like movies? You’ll want to check out the baskets! A pellet gun, tickets, gift certificates, home d+¬cor, baskets, wine; plenty to choose from! Streamside is offering 10% off your food order both Friday and Saturday night. We’ll have the GRAND PRIZE Raffle drawing – tickets are only $10 and you could win up to $1000! Stop by NCACU or the Chamber to buy your lucky ticket, or purchase one from a WinterFest Committee Member.

Friday night is the WinterFest Kick-Off, with night skiing, bonfire and s’mores at Cross Country Ski Headquarters, Bowling specials at Fred’ Restaurant, and 10 percent off food at Streamside.

Buttons can be purchased ahead of time at the Chamber and many area stores and services, and also at the WinterFest events.
