HALE- The Plainfield Township Library is preparing for a move from the Township Resource Center to a new home at Eagle Point Plaza, just down the hall from the township offices. Once the move is complete, the Plainfield Township Historical Commission and Museum will take over the library’s former space.
Although the room at Eagle Point Plaza once served as the high school library, it has changed significantly over the years. The area later became a meeting space while the library expanded its services to include a popular Children’s Book Room and a Used Book Room featuring community donations that help fund library events.
Preparing the new location required installing a fiber optic line, updating electrical wiring for computers, and redesigning the space to fit the library’s needs. While there will no longer be a dedicated Used Book Room, used books will still be available in the hallway on a self-serve honor system.
Friends of the Library and volunteers will help box and move the collection, while former librarians and current Library Manager Cheryl Tyler oversee the reshelving process. After the library is settled into its new location, the community will be invited to an Open House celebration.
