Neil Andrew Hoerauf of Houghton Lake

Neil Andrew Hoerauf, 28, of Houghton Lake passed away October 3, 2016 at Traverse City.

He was born on September 6, 1988 in Cadillac and grew up in the Houghton Lake area, graduating from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 2006.

Mr. Hoerauf spent eight years in Alaska after graduation, working in customer service and then returned to the Houghton Lake area two years ago. He was employed by Schmuckal Oil in Traverse City. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are his mother, Phyllis(Rick Ratza) Hoerauf of Houghton Lake; father, Mark (Tammy) Hoerauf of Alaska; sister, Kaley Hoerauf of Houghton Lake; half-brother, Dale Reed of NC; maternal grandparents, William and Irene Ensing of Houghton Lake; paternal grandmother, Harriett Jerome of Saginaw; one niece, Annabella; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation is from 12 p.m. Oct. 7 until the memorial service at 1 p.m. from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.

Memorial contributions in memory of Neil are asked to be directed to the family.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
