TAWAS – An Iosco County man was sentenced to multiple drug and home invasion charges.
According to a statement from Iosco County Prosecuting Attorney, James A. Bacarella, Dustin Robert Schanck of Wilber Township was found guilty of:
- Breaking and Entering a Building with Intent as a Third Habitual Felon
- Possession of less than 25 grams of Cocaine as a second drug offender
- Prisoner in Possession of Contraband as a third Habitual Offender
- Breaking and Entering with Intent
- Absconding on Bond; and
- Attempted First Degree Home Invasion as a Second Habitual Felon.
Schanck was sentenced to:
- 72 months to 20 years in prison for Breaking and Entering a Building with Intent as a Third Habitual Felon
- 23 months to eight years for Possession of less than 25 grams of Cocaine as a second drug offender
- 25 months to 10 years for Prisoner in Possession of Contraband as a third Habitual Offender
- 38 months to 10 years for Breaking and Entering with Intent
- 24 months to 4 years for Absconding on Bond; and
- 30 months to 15 years for Attempted First Degree Home Invasion as a Second Habitual Felon.
On July 10, 2024, Troopers from the Michigan State Police were dispatched to a residence in Baldwin Township regarding a breaking and entering of a building. During the course of the investigation, the officers executed a search warrant for Mr. Schanck’s residence and found property from the burglary in Baldwin Township.
According to the statement, officers from the Michigan State Police, The State Police Fugitive Team and STING Narcotics Units arrested Schanck on April 3 in Bay City and was later lodged in the Iosco County Jail.
