OSCODA COUNTY– March arrives with hopes of warmer days as we watch for the first signs of spring, officially beginning March 20. Don’t forget to set clocks ahead one hour on Saturday, March 8, as Daylight Saving Time begins and evenings grow brighter. St. Patrick’s Day follows on Tuesday, March 17, a great time to celebrate by wearing green or enjoying a little Irish cheer.
Food assistance opportunities this month include the CSFP “cheese box” pickup on Friday, March 13 at noon at Tri-Pointe Church of God in Mio (application and approval required through the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan). The Together We Can Food Pantry distribution will take place Thursday, March 19 from 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds; residents should bring ID and a box if possible.
In January, the Oscoda County Council on Aging delivered 1,863 home-delivered meals and served 364 congregate lunches. Community activities continue with exercise class Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Euchre Wednesdays at 12:45 p.m. The Board of Directors meeting will be held Monday, March 9 at 10 a.m., and the public is welcome to attend.
I’m encouraging everyone to enjoy the month, share kindness, and appreciate the little things.
