BESSEMER — A 65-year-old Roscommon woman died Monday after being pinned between a fifth-wheel camper and a truck at an Upper Peninsula campground, authorities said.
According to a statement from the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 3:26 p.m. to Moosehead Lake Campground in Marenisco Township after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman on Sept. 15
Deputies found the woman pinned between the camper and the truck. Despite CPR and other life-saving measures, she was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The woman’s name has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, Marenisco Township Police, Fire and EMS, Lake Gogebic Fire, Beacon Ambulance and Gogebic County Victim Services.
Moosehead Lake Campground, located about 10 miles southeast of Marenisco in the Ottawa National Forest, has one camping loop with 13 campsites.
