GAYLORD – The Northland Sportsmen’s Club hosted a hunters safety course Saturday.
More than 20 youths and adults successfully completed the course, which is required for everyone born after Jan. 1, 1960.
The club supports youth through its Junior Rifle program, archery classes, and an annual ice fishing derby. It also awards a $1,200 scholarship to a local graduating senior. Community involvement includes partnerships with MUCC, NRA, MCRGO, and local law enforcement.
Located at 1592 Old Alba Road in Gaylord, Michigan, is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to promoting safe shooting sports, outdoor recreation, and conservation.
Founded in 1934 and operating on a 40-acre site since 1940, the club is family-friendly and open to members of all experience levels.
Facilities include outdoor rifle and pistol ranges, a lighted shotgun field for trap, skeet, and five-stand shooting, an indoor .22 range, and an archery range. The clubhouse features meeting space and a kitchen, and is available for rent.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
