By Fred Lewis- Supervisor Plainfield Township

As we enter the holiday season, I want to wish all of you Happy Holiday!

One question that is asked frequently by our residents at this time of year is if the waste site is open on Christmas and New Years.  The answer is no, it will be closed on both Christmas and New Years Day. Business will resume on the next regular open business day which is the following Friday in both cases, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

Consumers Energy has enhanced the process to report streetlight outages and now allows anyone to report an outage from their phone/tablet/computer. Visit www.consumersenergy.com/outages-and-safety/outage-center/streetlight#Resident and follow the instructions. Select the “Streetlight Outages Map” box and that will take you to a map of our community and show each streetlight as a blue dot.  Once you have the map showing our community, you click or select the light that you are reporting and an information box will open showing the light information and a “Report Outage” tab will be at the bottom of the box. If you don’t want to provide the contact information, just put my name and the township contact information. If they contact me, I will know what it is about.

Don’t forget to consider a membership at the Community Center and Eagle Point Plaza.  You can come and enjoy pickleball at any time! They also offer yoga, cardio drumming, fitness training, walking, or some more intense Towanda.  Whatever your need we probably have some form of activity to assist you. Stop in and see Roma about a membership!  We have family rates and business/group rates also.

When you’re here stop in on Tuesdays to the Plainfield Township Historical Museum.  They have great displays of our community throughout history and how our residents lived long ago.  The members do a great job preserving and showcasing our heritage.  They also have genealogical workshops, and guest speakers so stop and ask about the next event.

Don’t forget our library over on M-65 at the Resource Center, call Cheryl at 989-728-4086 for information on upcoming events.

As always if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding our community please contact me.  I am in the office Mon – Frid 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and can be reached at 989-728-2811, 989-984-7073, or by email [email protected].
