Stanley R. Simon, 89, of Higgins Lake

Stanley R. Simon, 89, of Higgins Lake passed away on Monday March 22, 2021 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

Stanley was born on October 31, 1931 in Pewamo, Michigan to William and Julia (Smith) Simon. He grew up in the Pewamo area and graduated from Pewamo High School. Following high school Stanley served as a S/Sgt(T) in the Air Force during the Korean War. Stanley worked as a Salesperson for Farmer Peet Packing Company for many years before retiring.  On July 9, 1955 in Angola, Indiana Stanley was married to Ann D. Beechnau. He moved to the Higgins Lake area from St. Johns in the early 1970’s. Stanley was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church, St. Hubert Men’s Club and the Am Vets.  He enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard.                       

Surviving Mr. Simon are his wife, Ann Beechnau-Simon of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Linda Sue Gulick of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Kenneth R. Simon of Mt. Pleasant, and Edward (Emily) Simon of Hudsonville; four grandchildren, Matthew(Christina) Feldpausch, Christopher(Aubrey) Feldpausch, Adam Simon, and Kate Simon; three great grandchildren, Arieis, Elias, and Ethan; four sisters, Isabelle Hewitt of Elira, OH, Mary Ellen Burns of Lansing, Joanne Schafer of Grand Ledge, and Donna Fedewa of Charlotte; several nieces and nephews.  Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Hildegard Keilen; and two brothers, Robert Simon and Gerald Simon. 

Family services for Stanley R. Simon will be conducted at a later date.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pewamo.   Memorial contributions in memory of Stanley are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com.
