Mary Louise Haggerty, 85, of Houghton Lake passed away April 6, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on February 7, 1932 in Detroit to Steve and Pauline (Fiddler) Machinski. Mary grew up and graduated from high school in the Detroit area. She was married there on August 18, 1952 to Lowell Edward Haggerty. The couple moved to Houghton Lake from Auburn Hills in 2001.
Mrs. Haggerty was a homemaker and mother of four children. She collected Beenie Babies, enjoyed Joan Rivers Jewelry Collection, and trips to the casino. She loved spending time with her family, especially enjoying the grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of more than 64 years, Lowell Edward Haggerty of Houghton Lake; two sons, Jim Haggerty of Luzerne, and Tim Haggerty of Houghton Lake; daughter, Joylynn (Jim) Gibbs of Linden; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are brother, Robert (Arlene) Mitchell of Farmington; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Laurel Blair; and brother, Bill Machinski.
Visitation is April 8 from Christler Funeral Home Houghton Lake Chapel from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Winter officiating.
Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mary are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
