Special Olympics races held on AuSable Friday

GRAYLING – Special Olympics held its annual AuSable River Canoe race in front of Penrods Canoe Livery in Grayling Friday afternoon.

The event paired Olympias wit riders from the entire ROOC area, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Oscoda and Crawford counties.

The event is sponsored by the Grayling Knights of Columbus, and they provided lunch after the event. Shirts, hats and medals with given to the Olympians courtesy of Mark and Tracy Constance of Up North Voice and Brodie Robison of Sylvester’s.

Shirt sponsors included Hart Ford of Roscommon, ROOC, Mike Ignat of Houghton Lake Insurance, Luke Petrosky of Comfort Center, RARA of Roscommon, Jeremy and Darcy Bowers of Spikes, and Kate and Stacie of Tip of the Mitt and Flowers by Josie.

Each of the Olympians gave the professional paddlers a medal as well.
