Bucks edged out by Pine River

ROSCOMMON – Roscommon fell to Pine River 49-47 in Northern Michigan Conference action Wednesday.

Coach MJ Ewald said the team scrapped till the very end, including taking the lead in the fourth quarter, but came up just short.

“I’m really proud of how hard the kids played overall; we have to find a way to get over the hump,” Coach Ewald said. “Joel Ewald played well overall, especially getting down the lane. He did a good job of facilitating the offense and had some good hustle plays on defense. Ty Thornton played his best game of the season as he did a great job of scoring off the dribble and attacking the rim.”

Ewald noted the play of super sophomores Brock (4 pts; 4 RB Mason Beaver, “Who gave us a huge boost off the bench with his energy.”

Freshman Sawyer Griffis hit a couple of big shots early in the game and was active on defense. Sophomore Alex Thiel snagged eight boards, and Hamina did a nice job from the FT line.

Upcoming schedule:

McBain NMC (1-25-22)

Beal City (1-27-22)

Houghton Lake Feb. 2 for the Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser.
