ROSCOMMON – The Houghton Lake girls bowling team dropped Roscommon in both bakers 144-104 and 111-90 on Jan. 25. The ‘Cats also won the team games, 580-513 and 538-502. Girls high score was Emma with 148 and Gwen with 127.
George Reiger said in an email, ‘The Lady Bobcats dominated in their match versus the Bucks in an almost clean sweep taking 29 out of 30 points. We had good performances from the starters, Emma, Bri, and Gwen. Coach Lloyd Hodge was able to move players in and out of the line-up to help the team get a well-rounded attack.’
The Bobcats boys also won both bakers 145-131,147-119, and split team games, Rosco 655 and Houghton Lake 652.
Leading the charge for the Bobcats was Luke R. and Matt G. Both had marked frames in the baker games and each took their points in the team games. Hi-scorers were Luke R. – 189, and Matt G. – 167.
Clare drops Houghton Lake
Geiger said about the girls squad: ‘The Clare team was too much to handle for the lady Bobcats. Clare had two solid bakers which gave them ten points in the match. Going into the team games we knew it was going to be an uphill battle. We did bowl well, posting scores at or above average for the team and some good individual scores. Our starting line-up has been pretty steady throughout the season but we need to improve the secondary players to give us a more competitive team.’
Clare won both team events, 694-597 and 617-528. Girls high scorers were Emma with 147 and Bri with 146.
In the boys matchup, Clare won both team games 791-709 and 793-743.
Matt G. rolled a season high 178. Luke R. rolled a 193.
