GAYLORD – The Alpine Regional Tennis Association (ARTA), on behalf of the Sportsplex, secured a $22,000 grant from USTA Tennis Venue Services (TVS) for a $38,500 four-court resurfacing project. In a welcome surprise, the USTA Midwest Infrastructure Committee awarded an additional $7,920 toward the effort.
The resurfacing, completed by Pro Surfaces, wrapped up just in time for the start of the ladies’ and men’s tennis leagues, as well as other programs and clinics after Memorial Day weekend.
Heather Blythe, TVS Project Services Manager, said, “The USTA is committed to supporting the enhancement and construction of tennis facilities in communities across the country. Great facilities like the Otsego County Sportsplex help grow the game at the grassroots level.”
Kristina Glusac of the USTA Midwest Infrastructure Committee added, “Thank you for your commitment to improving your facility and growing the game. We appreciate what you do for your community.”
ARTA President Anjuli Hawkins stated, “We’re very grateful to USTA TVS and USTA Midwest for their generous support and continued investment in our courts.”
