IOSCO COUNTY- The Lady Eagles basketball season has come to an end.  Their season ended with the fall to AuGres in the final round of districts.  Although they were not able to take home a district win, they did end their season with a winning record of 11-9.

This is the first time since before 2008 that a Hale Girls basketball team has been able to manage a winning season.  The Lady Eagles started their season off strong with a win against Wolverine at home.  While they went through a 3-game losing streak after that, they used that as momentum to go on a 5-game winning streak.  From there, they didn’t have a very consistent streak, bouncing from wins to losses.

The Lady Eagles went into districts off a win against Whittemore.  Mio put up a strong fight against our Lady Eagles but due to foul trouble and injuries, they were left with three players on the court in the fourth quarter. It’s no surprise that the Lady Eagles ended their first round of districts with a win over Mio, 44-25.  The final district game against AuGres was a very anticipated game.  After the Lady Eagles split with Au Gres in the regular season, both teams had everything riding on this game.  Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles lost the game after putting up a very strong fight.

While a sour ending to the season, the Lady Eagles have made a name for themselves in the district and are ready to come back strong next season.
