WHITTEMORE – The Tawas Braves dropped the Charlton Heston Academy (CHA) Patriots in district basketball action 80-41 on March 9.
Despite being underdogs to the Braves, CHA kept the game close the first two quarters, using a tenacious defense and timely shooting, trailing just 33-22 at the half way point.
But in the third quarter, the Tawas shooters took control, outscoring the Patriots 25-11 in the third and 22-10 in the fourth quarter.
Ethan Sharrow paced the Patriots with 13 points, including three, 3-pointers. He was followed by Nathaniel Perry (10), Nick Stephens (seven points including 5-6 free throws), Ryan Patterson (four) Jordan Smiecinsko (three), and Cameron Johnson and Gavin Hartwell with two points each.
Jake Look led the Braves with 13 points, followed by Vinnie Frank (13), Alex Kaems and Granite Barringer (11 points each), Ethan Hedlin (9), Gavin Dukaj (8), Ethan Mochty (7) and Gabe Kaniszenski (6).
