Bucks improving play by play

ROSCOMMON – The Bucks fell to state-ranked McBain on Jan. 25 by a score of 75-62.

Coach MJ Ewald was pleased with the performance of the team and how they battled against a tough opponent.

“The kids simply played as we are starting to work through our mistakes in games instead of dwelling on them. ‘Next Play’ has been our mantra, and we’re getting there,” Ewald said.

Senior Joel Ewald scored a career-high 29 points off seven 3-pointers and had three rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Ben Hamina added 16 points and four rebounds. Junior Ty Thornton had seven point, five boards, four assists and a team-high five steals.

“Hamina found his groove as well, getting points both inside and out,” Ewald said. “Thornton was all over the place defensively and had some key steals in the second half.”

Sophomores Brock Pelleran (five points, four boards), and Mason Green (season-high seven rebounds), and Alex Thiel were solid contributors in the paint

“I’m really proud of our efforts and how we are steadily improving as the season moves on,” Ewald added.

Trevin Winkle (Sr) led McBain with 35 points.
