Bucks face off against Beavers

BEAVERTON – The Lady Bucks and Bucks faced off against the Beaverton Beavers at Riverwood Lanes in Mt Pleasant.

In the first 2 games of Baker the Beavers won with games of 164-82 to 89-77. Close for the girls only having 4 and taking 2 zeros in each game for the absent bowler.

In the next 2 games of Peterson play, the girls were able to win 2 of the four matches in game 1 but fell short in both games in total pin fall. Loosing both games to the Beavers 554-398 and 692-357.

Evelyn Arender led the Lady Bucks with games of 116-134, Freshman Jaimi Wicks was 2nd high with a 129-90. They both won a match each in game one. Emma Backer rolled 84-64 followed by Senior Aaliyah Moore with 69-69.

Coach David Osim said, “The girls are working hard in practice and in the meets, but its impossible to overcome a 5 to 4 bowler deficit every meet. We are seeing an improvement in the scores each week from the Lady Bucks and thats what counts.”

For the Boys, in the first game of Baker the Bucks came out and bowled a collegiate type of score recording a 220 to the Beavers 147 only to fall by 4 pins in game two  149 – 145.

That 220 game is a all time best Baker game score for the Bucks in the 5 years the program has been in existence.

The Bucks came out and lost the next games and only won 4 total matches. 773-670 and 795-752. The boys did come back in game 2 but just didnt have enough in pin fall.

Leading the Bucks with a solid performance was Senior Brady Briggs. Brady won both of his matches with games of 168-208, Junior Kamaron Leach bowled 165-146 without a win, Austin Lytle 133-132, Seth Patchin 110-136 and a win, Jeremy Black 132 and a win and Nick Stehle with a 94..

“(I) know they are better … Things that I have been driving into them for 3 to 4 years and its just hard to see them not succeed. Its a funny sport and there are times you cant do anything wrong and times you really have to stay focused and work harder. This was one of those times.

The Bucks bowl against Shepard at Gateway Lanes in Clare at 1 p.m. on Jan. 11.
