Lady Bucks third at Hornet Invitational meet

HARRISON — Grant Gabalis paced the Roscommon boys cross country team at the Harrions Hornet Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17 with a seventh place finish in 20:20.13 as the Bucks scored 133 points.

Brandon Hahn was the next Bucks runner to cross the finish line in 27th place (23:29.88), followed by Justin Janisse (25:32.90), JT Cole (29:28.41) and David White (38:14.09). Midland Bullock Creek won the meet with 28 points and Gladwin was second with 62.
The Bucks were third in the girls meet with 79 points trailing Gladwin (34) and second place Bullock Creek (57). Madison Warneck led the way for Roscommon with an eighth place (24:37.20) followed by Alexis Stachurski (15th in 25:42.49) and Morgan Thomas (18th in 25:58.72).

Roscommon competed in a tri-meet with Beaverton and Whittemore-Prescott in Beaverton on Tuesday, Sept. 13 and scored 59 points in the boys meet. Beaverton won the meet with 23 and Whittemore-Prescott finished second with 48. The Bucks won the girls’ meet, 17-46 over Beaverton.

The Bucks swept the first three places in the girls’ meet with Madison Warneck winning the overall individual race in a time of 22:53. She was followed by Morgan Thomas (24:26) and Alexis Stachurski (24:34).

Roscommon had another pack of four girls from places five through nine. Maleah Wooten took fifth place (25:43), followed by Sarah Dibbet (26:02), Caitlin Anderson (personal record 27:14) and Heidi Golder (27:18).

Beaverton would grab the next four places before Elaine Murray broke into the scoring column for the Bucks in 13th place (31:12). Running behind her were teammates Caroline Schultz (31:20.26), Sydney Major (31:20.85) and Alyssa Ostling (31:21).

The first boy to cross the finish line for the Bucks was Grant Gabalis who took sixth place (19:59). Chris Black was next in the 10th position (22:27) and Brandon Hahn was two places behind in 12th (23:18). Following them were Justin Janisee (25:14 for 16th), Ian Wybraniec (personal record 25:37) and JT Cole (31:09).
