Enjoy a 5K on the refuge!

REGION- On Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. we will be meeting at Robinson Rd. Trailhead, SNWR so dress as your favorite wild thing and raise funds for a youth cultural and career day camp! The Walk for the Wild is a national event co-sponsored by the National Wildlife Refuge Association and the Public Lands Alliance. This year there are 46 teams participating across the US representing 70 national wildlife refuges. We hope you will join Team Seney!

Earn your Junior Ranger badge while completing fun activities along the trail. There will be other surprises! In addition to all of that, you’ll get some great exercise, breathe the fresh UP air, see the fall changes, and use all your senses.

If you can’t be with us in person on the 14th, you can walk with us in spirit. We will also be hosting a virtual walk that week, celebrating National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 7-14. You can walk any place, any time, during that week.

This is a fun walk and will not be timed.

You can register on the national site with the button below. You can also read more about the national event at https://support.americaswildliferefuges.org/campaign/walk-for-the-wild-2023/c476482

As always, you can find more information on our Friends of Seney NWR website and our Facebook page.

Remember to dress for the weather, and bring water for the walk. There will be treats at the finish line.

Northern Hardwoods Cross Country Ski Trails
The Oct. 14 5K will include two trail options: a route on the Northern Hardwoods trail and a route on the Pine Creek/Otter Run trails. The Pine Creek/Otter Run trail will be more accessible for wheeled devices (wheelchairs, strollers, wagons) and it’s wider in places for groups to walk together. There is more detailed information on each trail at this link: https://friendsofseney.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Walk-for-the-Wild-2023-Seney-NWR.pdf
