HOUGHTON LAKE – In the movie “Field of Dreams,” they said to “build it and we will come.”

That is exactly what Ed Korbinski of Beaverton, and his team of volunteers did: They built Fast Eddie’s Vintage and Classic Snow Fest the weekend of Feb. 8.

The group built a drag strip on the ice of Houghton Lake for the past several years, and watched as attendance and participation has grown by 100s of machines each year. This year the group expanded their race offerings to include an oval track for racers specializing in that type of event.

A raci ng machine tests its chops for the first time on Houghton Lake.

Hundreds of people braved the cold to watch and participate in the event.

Volunt eers helped direct people around the track.

Road brushes were used to keep the ice clear.

Racers staked out their spots on the ice and settled in.

It was a long couple of day for the race officials.
