Stephen A. Messenger
Age 70, of Hale, MI passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at his home. He was born on April 26, 1956 in Detroit, MI to the late Gerald and Betty Messenger (Arnold). Steve served in the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1975. He later worked for over 20 years for the Iosco County Sherriff Department as the Animal Control Officer. Steve loved animals and was fondly called “Deputy Dog” by some of his dear friends. He enjoyed fishing, CB radios, gardening and playing the harmonica. Steve is survived by his wife Mary Messenger of Hale, MI; stepdaughter Tina Tatro of Lansing, MI; brother Robert and sisters Susan and Mary. A celebration of life will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Lake Huron Community Church in East Tawas, MI.
