Jerry was born on June 4, 1951, in Gladwin, the son of the late Raymond and Julia (Wavra) Augustine. He grew up surrounded by the values of family, hard work, and simple pleasures that would remain with him throughout his life. Jerry lived on the family farm on Butman, where he worked alongside his parents and learned the importance of responsibility and perseverance. Those early years on the farm helped shape the loving, gentle, and friendly man that family and friends came to know and cherish.
As life moved forward, Jerry later made his home in Evart. He carried with him the lessons and memories of his upbringing, and he remained a man who appreciated the comfort of familiar faces and the warmth of family gatherings. He was happiest when he was surrounded by the people he loved, especially during weddings, reunions, and other occasions that brought everyone together. His presence added kindness and steadiness to every gathering, and his easygoing nature made others feel welcome.
Jerry worked at the Arnold Center in Midland and Gladwin, as well as I Hops in Grand Rapids. Through his work, he showed the same dependable spirit that marked every part of his life. He was known for being gentle and friendly, and those qualities served him well in his relationships with coworkers, friends, and family members alike. He approached life with a quiet strength and a caring heart, and he will be remembered for the goodness he shared with others.
In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed riding his John Deere bike and growing into the tractor, memories that reflected both his connection to the land and the joy he found in the simpler things in life. He also enjoyed listening to country music, which brought him comfort and companionship over the years. Whether he was spending time outdoors, enjoying music, or visiting with loved ones, Jerry found happiness in the moments that brought people together and made life meaningful.
Jerry is survived by his brother, James Augustine and his wife, Sherry; his sister, Barbara Augustine; his brother-in-law, Bruce Powers; his sister-in-law, Patricia Augustine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Augustine, Dick Augustine, Don Augustine, Ron Augustine, and Shirley Powers.
