Beverly Foster, 87, of Houghton Lake

Beverly A. Foster, 87, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday January 18, 2026 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Beverly was born on June 4, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Norrene (Brown) Smith. She grew up in the Detroit area where she went to work for Detroit Edison.  Beverly was married on March 11, 1955 in Angola, Indiana to Bernard Stephen  Foster.  The Couple moved from Detroit to the Houghton Lake area in 1964.  They ran their farm and also owned and operated the Zephyr gas station on M-55 from 1964 until 1978.  Beverly also was a busy homemaker raising six children.  She was a very active member of the Houghton Lake Church of God. Beverly enjoyed being with her family especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving Mrs. Foster are her two daughters, Debra Dowland of Houghton Lake, and Linda (Rick) Spear of Houghton Lake; three sons, Stephen Foster of WV, Larry (Kelly Surtocs) Foster of West Branch,  and Jim (Jennifer DeMarco) Foster of Houghton Lake;  several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great great grandchild;  half sister, Yola Roel of Detroit;  several; nieces and nephews.  Beverly was preceded in death by her parents;  husband, Bernard Stephen Foster;  son, Troy Foster; and brother, Charles Smith.

Funeral Services for Beverly A. Foster will be conducted 1:00pm Friday January 30, 2026 from Houghton Lake Church of God, 9949 W. Lake City Road, Houghton Lake, with Pastor Jacob Nicoletti officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Friday January 30, 2026 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm at the Church.  Memorial contributions in memory of Beverly are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.  Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
