Dennis Hayes, 75, of Tawas City

Dennis Hayes, 75, of Tawas City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025.

Denny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda (Sutherland); riding companion, Penny. Siblings Charles Hayes (Bear), Dorothy Smith, Robert (Bobby) Hayes, Pearl Rabideau, Holly and Russell Martin, Kenny and Becky Hayes. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ann Hayes, brother – in – law, Gary Smith.

Denny was born and raised on the family farm in Grant Township. As a child he learned farm life and hard work. Denny attended Tawas Area Schools and graduated in 1968. He went to work at Johnson Auto after high school. Denny married Linda December 15, 1973. In 1973 he went on to work at Tawas Tool for 41 years until his retirement in 2014.

In his younger years he enjoyed racecars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and anything with a motor. You would always find Denny tinkering in the garage with motors big and small alike. On occasion he would be caught singing in the garage. Denny spent his years only a short distance from the family farm. He enjoyed hunting and watching the deer in the backyard.

Visitation is Sunday, December 7th, 2025 at 11:00 am, Service at 12:00 PM by Elder Tim Beavers at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial donations are encouraged to consider a contribution to Iosco County Animal Shelter or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
