Cameron Jay Rath, a lifelong resident of East Tawas, passed away at his home on Monday, January 27, 2025, age 62 years. Cameron was born on January 4, 1963 in Grand Rapids to Frederick and Linda (DeYoung) Rath. He graduated from Tawas Area High School with the class of 1981.
Cameron worked for many years as a Chemistry Technician for the Waste Treatment Plant in East Tawas. He truly enjoyed being outdoors playing golf, hunting, working and putzing in his garage, and took pride in his garden that he spent so much time in. Every morning, Cameron would get up and grab a cup of coffee and go down to the East Tawas docks and have his personal reflection time watching the sun come up. He often referred to this beautiful time as his “Church Service”. He was a long time member of the Tawas Bay Eagles as well.
Cameron will forever be cherished by all of his family and many dear friends that knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved mother, Linda B. Rath of East Tawas; 1 sister, Sally Garrett (Wade Snyder) of East Tawas; 1 brother, Damon (Leona) Rath of Newport News, Virginia; nephews, Ty (Melissa) Garrett, Cantrell Rath, and Dylan Rath; 1 niece, Amanda (Nathan) Shawn; great nephews, Dacoda (Hannah) Shawn, Lukas and Gavin Shawn, Morgan (Carrie) Garrett; 1 great niece, Riley Garrett; 2 great great nieces, Lillian and Magnolia Shawn; and many special friends. Cameron is preceded in death by his father, Frederick W. Rath.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will hold a celebration of his life at a future date to be announced. He will be laid to rest in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Tawas City.
