Kathleen Ann Mellen, age 69, of Hale, MI., passed away at her home on January 19, 2025. Kathleen was born in Ohio. When she was just a few months old, she and her older brother were adopted by John and Marion (Ford) Mellen. The family eventually moved to Michigan where she graduated from Southfield Lathrup High School. She went on to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo graduating with a degree in physical therapy.
Kathleen was self-employed for most of her adult life, both in Southfield, and a number of towns in northern lower Michigan. In the early years she was a sports trainer and then transitioned to senior care physical therapy, and caring for Alzheimer’s patients.
Kathleen loved animals, watching the Piston’s, Tiger’s, and all Michigan sports. She was a very good cook and enjoyed making the family favorites. She liked listening to music and playing her LP’s and enjoyed karaoke.
Kathleen was never married and did not have children. She is survived by her brother, Michael Mellen and sister-in-law Mary Ann Mellen; niece, Debra Ann (Steve) Griffin; nephew, John E. (Elizabeth Heys) Mellen; nieces and nephew, Annika Griffin, Reagan Mellen and Drake Griffin.
