Penny May Perrin, a beacon of kindness and generosity, peacefully passed away on October 26, 2024, in Prescott, MI, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 18, 1951, in West Branch, MI, Penny’s life was a testament to her loving nature and her unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and community.
On August 30, 1969, Penny married her husband, Russ, in Prescott, MI. Their union was a source of profound joy and was blessed with children and grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. Penny’s legacy of love is carried on by her husband, Russell Perrin; her children, Stacey (Anthony) Fernandez, Matt (Noel) Perrin; her eight grandchildren (Tyler, Alicia, Kaylee, Brady, Quinn, Thomas, Ally, and Vincent); and seven great-grandchildren (Nora, Jace, Emery, Jaxton, Ryder, Sage, and Judd). She will also be fondly remembered by her siblings, Kirby Clayton and Linda (Doug) Miller.
Before her retirement, Penny’s passion for literature and learning led her to a rewarding career as a Librarian at the Whittemore Prescott Area Schools. Her work was not just a job but a reflection of her love for education and the youth she inspired.
Penny’s interests were a mirror to her soul: pure and joyful. An avid reader and gardener, she found tranquility in the pages of books and the beauty of nature. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she invested innumerable happy hours in their company. Penny’s love for golf, Hallmark movies, crime TV, and her dedication to Faith Lutheran Church, particularly leading bible school, spoke volumes of her dynamic character. Shopping trips with friends were not just about the purchases, but about the cherished moments spent in laughter and camaraderie.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Shirley (Sageman) Clayton, and by her daughter, Renee Hennagir. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, and the generous love she shared will forever be etched in the memories of those who knew her. Penny’s life was a beautiful narrative of love and service, and she will be profoundly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church, 5315 Henderson Lake Rd., Prescott, MI. 48756. Family will greet friends and family from 4:00pm until time of service at 5:00pm with Pastor Edward Meyer presiding, with dinner to follow. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider donating to Faith Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association. Those wishing to visit one last time please consider wearing red to honor Penny as it was her favorite color.
