On October 17, 2024, a lovely lady left the world to be with God. Judith “Judy” Kay Raymond was the daughter of the late Agnes (Reed) and William Julian Malcolm of Sterling. She was born February 22, 1942, in Ypsilanti before moving to Sterling. She was one of four children. On June 18, 1960, Judy married the love of her life Art Raymond, and they were married for over 60 years. She was the proud mom of Mitchell Raymond (deceased), Melanie Sobieray, Monica (Paul) Walderzak, and Ryan (April) Raymond.
Besides her husband, her special friend Tom Hart, and her children she leaves her legacy and love to 7 grandchildren: Brad (Becca) Sobieray, Ellen (Ryan) Wallaker, Cole (friend Veronica) & Clayton (friend Carly) Walderzak, Nolan & fiancé Kaylee, Reed (friend Lily) & Chase (friend Alexandria) Raymond and 9 great-grandchildren: Rylee, Peyton, Nino, Callie, Ellery, Raelynn, Brantley, Wyatt and Kinslee. We can’t forget about her cat Wiki and her dog Joy.
After her children were in school, Judy joined the work force starting at Standish Products. A couple of years later, she was blessed to get a secretarial job at Standish-Sterling Schools where she later retired. Judy touched many lives of the children who walked through the doors at school each day. She was well known for her love of sports: playing throughout her high school career and into her adult years, but mostly watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play. Judy enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. Her home was a perfect fit for the Better Homes & Garden magazine. She enjoyed playing cards with family & friends and creating a daily honey-do list for dad and then for Tom. To all those who knew and loved her, Judy leaves many good times and fond memories and a life she was proud of.
Judy is survived by two brothers Richard Malcolm and Joseph (Aggie) Malcolm, sister-in-law Sr. Elaine Raymond and brother-in-law Carl Walston and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Art, a son Mitchell, friend Tom Hart, sister Janet Walston, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws: Lawrence (Irene) Raymond, Don (Marge) Raymond, Angie (Ernie) Lau, Marie (Ernie) Valley, Margaret (Herb) Salasky, Maxine Raymond, Florence (Harold) Vallad, and Gladys Jennings. Our family would like to send a big THANK YOU to the staff and residents (the amazing ladies at the dinner table) of Medilodge for their care and compassion towards our mom during her stay!
Funeral mass was held Monday, October 21, 2024, at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Standish, Michigan with the Rev. Father Ron Wagner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards the Standish-Sterling Central Athletic Scholarship Fund or to Medilodge of Sterling.
