Gloria Jean Flowers, also known as, “Red,” aged 81, of Standish, MI, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, in Bay City, MI. Born on August 23, 1943, in Standish, MI to the late John and Nellie (Subulski) Flowers.
A proud 1962 graduate of Standish Sterling Central High School, Gloria furthered her education with classes at Mott Community College. Her professional life was deeply rooted in her community, as she dedicated 30 years of service to the family-owned Flowers Fruit Market. Her tireless work and commitment to the family business left a lasting impression on her colleagues and customers alike.
Gloria’s passion for life was evident through her varied interests. She found joy in knitting, cooking, and her green thumb was a testament to her love for gardening. Puzzle-solving was another favorite pastime as well as traveling.
Left to honor and remember Gloria are her loving sisters, Patricia Wilga, and Delores Herrick, as well as her brother, David Flowers. Her extended family includes cousins, Sue Ratkos, Marylin Krzysik, nieces, Michelle Sparks, Jennifer Wiets, nephews, Randy Wilga, Paul Wilga, and Mark Wilga, and their families.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Flowers, her niece Karen Lachick, and nephews Patrick and Michael Wilga, and cousin, Joseph Sebulski.
Gloria’s legacy is one of unwavering love and selflessness. Her life was a true reflection of the virtues she valued – kindness and generosity foremost among them. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Resurrection of The Lord Catholic Church, Standish MI, with Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner presiding, with internment to follow at Resurrection of The Lord Cemetery. Family will greet friends and family on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel, Standish, MI where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm. Gloria will lie in state at Resurrection of The Lord Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10:00am until time of mass at 11:00am.
