John ‘Rocky’ Meister, 79, of Roscommon

John Raymond “Rocky” Meister, 79, of Roscommon passed away on Saturday May 18, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side.

Rocky was born on September 8, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to Harold and Jacquelyn (DeWeese) Meister. He grew up in the Grand Ledge area where he graduated from Grand Ledge High School.  After high school Rocky joined the Michigan National Guard for two years and attended Lansing Community College.  Rocky worked as a real estate salesman for several years and became a real estate broker and owned his own office, Meister Real Estate of Lansing.  On June 27, 2000 in Howell, Rocky was married to Deborah Lynn Bartholomew. The couple moved from Lansing to the Higgins Lake area 25 years ago.  He started another business in Roscommon County doing Medical Transport for county residents. Rocky enjoyed golf, bowling, poker, especially when he won, was an avid MSU fan and was upset whenever there wasn’t a game on.  He volunteered with kids in his Lansing area church, especially in serving the homeless and providing meals to the homeless..

Surviving Mr. Meister are his loving wife of 23 years, Deborah Lynn Bartholomew-Meister of Roscommon; two daughters, Kirsten Meister of Jersey City, NJ, and Alecia Morez of Roscommon; five sons, Kurt Meister of Lake Orion, Kevin Meister of Walled Lake, Kent (Jeanie) Meister of Lapeer, Kyle (Sheri) Meister of Johnson City, TN, and Chris(Jessica) Baker of Roscommon; several grandchildren; sister, Mary (Chuck) Doll of TX; three brothers, Harold “Ed” (Rory) Meister of Sheridan, Wilhelm (Darlene) Meister of Grand Ledge, and Jim (Ellen) Harmon of Eaton Rapids; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  John was preceded in death by his parents.  

Funeral Services for John Raymond “Rocky” Meister will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday May 26, 2024 from Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel with Pastor Charlie Herrick officiating. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville. Visitation will be held on Saturday May 25, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel.  Memorial contributions in memory of “Rocky” are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge Programs, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5028. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
