Cliff Marsh, 84, of Sterling

Clifford Joseph Marsh, known affectionately as Cliff, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, in Midland, Michigan. Born on October 15, 1939, in Sterling, Michigan, Cliff was a man of adventure, love, and courage, whose zest for life touched all who knew him.

Cliff’s journey began as the beloved son of Delos and Clara (Daniels) Marsh. His early years in Sterling laid the foundation for a life full of diverse experiences and accomplishments. Cliff’s love story began when he married his sweetheart, Alice Joy (Setlak) Marsh, on January 24, 1959, at St. Edwards Church in Omer, Michigan. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Wendy (Bob) Stein, and a son, Brian Marsh, who sadly preceded him in death.

A devoted family man, Cliff’s legacy continues through his three grandchildren, Jessica and Jordan Stein, and Zach Marsh, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Knox. He is also survived by his loving brothers and sisters, Barbara Wolfgang of Sterling, MI, Harold (Gaynol) Marsh of The Villages, FL, Ronald (Jill) Marsh of Ludington, MI, Carolyn (Richard) Kujawa of Bay City, MI, and Judy McKee of Tucson, AZ, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian, and his siblings Lawrence, Ernest (Marilyn) Marsh, Phyllis (Len) Frey, June (Joe) Nagy, and brother-in-law, Sid Wolfgang.

Cliff’s work ethic was as strong as his spirit for adventure. After serving in the Army, he embarked on a career at GM as a foreman. His industrious nature led him back to Standish, where he and Alice built Shamrock Acres Dairy Farm, a testament to their hard work and dedication to the land. Cliff retired at the age of 65, but his passion for life never waned.

Traveling the States with his RV and Goldwing, Cliff and his bride of 65 years explored the country’s vast landscapes, always ready to plan their next excursion. Whether he was farming the gardens, puttering in the shed, or visiting the casinos, Cliff’s adventurous spirit was ever-present. His stories, often shared with a twinkle in his eye, will be remembered and cherished by all who had the pleasure of listening.

A Mass funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Resurrection of the Lord Church, Standish, MI with Rev. Fr. David Parsch presiding followed by Military Honors. The family will greet friends and family from 10:00 am until the time of service.
