June Herman, 97, of Standish

June M. Herman, 97, of Standish passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family. June was born November 1, 1926, to the late Harold and Mary (Stanlake) Drain in Owosso, MI. She was first married to Captain Bruce W. Cambell (WWII). Then she married Gerald “Jake” Herman (Korean War Veteran) on January 15, 1962, in Angola, IN.

June was a child during the ‘Great Depression’ era 30’s and has watched much history unfold. At a very young age, she was among the first successful experimental uses of the Sulfa drug to treat a staph infection she endured. As a graduate of Edmore High School, she recalls her fellow senior year classmates being called out of class to be drafted for war. After high school, she worked for the telephone company and later went to work for Sears. She raised eight children, whom she loved dearly. She also had a passion for collecting and made it her full-time hobby. She was very creative and was able to find the ‘treasure’ in everything.

June is survived by 6 of her children, Bill (Sharon) Herman, Marge (Dick) LeVert, Shelly (Ed) Zuchnik, Mike (Sara) Herman, Robin (Greg) Dubiel, Jacob (Susan) Herman, and Barbara (John) Fieler. 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way.

June is preceded in death by her parents, Harold, and Mary Drain, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 2 daughters, Serina Scoby and Kaye Stokosynski, stepson, David Horkey, 2 grandsons, Jeremy M. Herman and A.J. Stokosynski and great-grandson, Gabe Jasman.

A funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home – Standish Chapel, with Yevette Chisholm presiding, followed by internment at Sterling Cemetery, Sterling, MI. The family will greet guests on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the time of service.
