Carnelita ‘Connie’ Maas, 98, St. Helen

Carnelita Audrey Maas, was a beloved mother and grandmother during her incredible 98 years of life. She passed away peacefully holding her daughter’s hand on Sunday, April 21, 2024. ‘Connie’ as she was known by family and friends, was born on July 29, 1925, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She moved to the United States and became a citizen in 1945.

Carnelita raised her four children in Flint, Michigan, and later moved to Saint Helen, Michigan, where she spent the better part of the last 40 years. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards with loved ones, putting together puzzles, watching soap operas, reading books, but most importantly, reading her bible and spending time with the Lord Our God.

Her beautiful smile, kind heart, generous giving of her time, and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved Carnelita. She loved unconditionally and everyone she met felt her gentle spirit. The stories of her life that she shared will be our most cherished possessions she gifted us with. Her heart was so big that she loved each of us equally, wholly, and uniquely.

Carnelita is survived by her only daughter, Alma Wolosonowich (Robert); her youngest son, William Maas; (7) grandchildren; (14) great grandchildren; and (5) great, great grandchildren.

Carnelita was preceded in death by both her parents; sister, Reta Powers; 2 sons, Alan & Lawerence Maas; grandson, Alan James; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In honor of Carnelita’s wishes, the family has chosen to remember her privately. In leu of flowers, she requested donations to be made to your local animal shelter.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
