Bob Brotebeck, 94, of Houghton Lake

Robert Bernard Brotebeck, 94, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2024 at The Brook of Houghton Lake with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born on October 25, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to Bernard and Ann(Kott) Brotebeck. He grew up in the Flint area where he graduated from high school. Bob served as a Cpl(T) in the Army during the Korean War.  In 1963 in Flint, Bob was married to Mary Lee Lovegrove. Bob was a meat cutter for Kroger for many years before going to work as a Metal Fabricator Inspector for General Motors retiring in 1990. The Couple moved to Higgins Lake from Swartz Creek in 1989, while Bob was still commuting to his work at General Motors. He was an active member of St. Hubert Catholic Church, St. Hubert Men’s Club, and St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a member of Local 659 UAW,  Bob enjoyed fishing and his annual Canadian fishing trip with his friends. He played golf often and was in a league until he was 90.  The couple frequently attended the Roscommon Senior Center, they were avid card players and known to be occasional visitors of the Casinos.  His special love was his family, exceptional parents and grandparents, loving to spend time with them all.

Surviving Mr. Brotebeck are his son, Robert (Patty) Brotebeck of Houghton Lake; daughter, LeeAnn Cohee of Houghton Lake; two granddaughters, Elise (Darren) Lussow of WI, and AshLee (Michael) Stanislawski of Houghton Lake; grandson, Trace (Brianne) Cohee of Fenton; three great grandchildren, Harper and HadLee Stanislawski, and Chase Lussow; and his special friends and caregivers at The Brook of Houghton Lake  and Heartland Hospice, that provided such wonderful care, and sharing time, with Bob.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lee Brotebeck; and brother Bud Brotebeck. 

Celebration of Life Services for Robert Bernard Brotebeck will be conducted at a later date.  Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Memorial contributions in memory of Robert are asked to be directed to St. Vincent de Paul, 329 W. West Branch Road, Prudenville, MI.  48651.
