Shirley Savercool, 87, of Roscommon

Shirley E. Savercool, 87, of  Roscommon passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2024 at her home.

Shirley was born on April 23, 1936 in Midland, Michigan to Harry and Ellen (Bartlett) Lewis. She moved to Roscommon County with her family at an early age and spent all of her life in the Houghton Lake and Higgins Lake area. Shirley attended the Houghton Lake Community Schools, graduating from the Old Stone School Building. Shirley was married in Roscommon to Larry Savercool in 1955. Being a homemaker and mother of seven children kept her life full and active.  Shirley loved the outdoors, going for walks and looking for mushrooms, fishing from her row boat on Houghton Lake, the wildlife made her smile, and she especially enjoyed her cats.

Surviving Mrs.Savercool are her three daughters, Theresa(Michael) Hood of TX, Tina(Jim Ellsworth) Harvey of Houghton Lake, and Patricia Savercool of Roscommon; two sons, Larry Savercool of Houghton Lake, and Theodore(Marianna) Savercool of AK; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Howard(Jane) Lewis of Prudenville, and Orville(Carol) Lewis of Prudenville; several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry Savercool; daughter, Tanya Davis; son, Shane Savercool; and eleven siblings. 

Funeral Services for Shirley E. Savercool will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday March 4. 2024 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at 1:00pm,  Memorial contributions in memory of Shirley are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.
