Melissa Mary Dew-Sprague, age 58, of Standish, MI, passed away peacefully in her childhood home on March 23, 2024. She was born on January 28, 1966, to Ray and Caroline (Trombley) Dew. Surviving Melissa is her devoted son, Matthew Dew; two caring sisters, Melinda (Jacob) Sitkowski and Manda (Keith) Haas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Earl Mark Sprague III, and her dear parents, Ray and Caroline (Trombley) Dew, along with her grandparents.
Melissa’s zest for life was apparent in her many passions. Gardening brought joy to her days as did the warmth and comfort of the blankets she crocheted. An avid naturalist, she found solace in watching birds, and her spirit of adventure came alive during hunting and fishing excursions and spending time up in fairview. Her memory will be particularly treasured by her longtime companions, Julie Arquette-Pawluski, Sherry Daniel’s Kleinhans, and Edna Stevens, whom she shared memorable trips to the U.P., and attended Tribal Pow-Wows with.
Characterized by her loving nature, Melissa’s legacy will be carried in the hearts of those who knew her, as a woman who embraced life’s simple pleasures and whose presence made the world a warmer place.
