Joyce E. Cummins, age 81, of Gladwin, passed away on March 12, 2024. She was born on December 3, 1942, the daughter of Leo and Barbara Schmidt, in Bay City, Michigan. Her father died when Joyce was just a baby. When Barbara remarried, Philip Beyer became the father who raised her. Joyce was blessed to grow up knowing both of her fathers’ families and remained close with them throughout her life.
On August 21, 1971, Joyce married the love of her life, Thomas Cummins, in Bay City. In 1997, Joyce and Tom relocated to Gladwin converting her childhood cabin into their lake home. There they quickly became active members of the community, forming cherished friendships along the way. They shared many beautiful years together until Tom’s passing in 2022. Joyce loved to watch cooking shows and spent many years baking for the local Farmer’s Market. She loved to read and enjoyed visits from her grand-dogs. Joyce had a special fondness for spending time with her friends, particularly enjoying their card games together.
Joyce is survived by her son, Robert (Carrie) Cummins of Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and her fathers, Leo and Phillip and mother, Barbara.
