Floyd Menzies, 82, of Prudenville

Floyd A. Menzies, 82, of  Prudenville passed away on Thursday March 14, 2024 at My Michigan Medical Center, Midland.

Floyd was born on January 7, 1942 in Pontiac, Michigan to Donald and Doris (Lawrence) Menzies. He grew up in the Clarkston area where he graduated from Clarkston High School. Floyd went on with his schooling to become a pipe fitter for General Motors.  He retired from General Motors after 30 years. On October 22, 1982 in Clarkston, Floyd was married to Pamela Jane Gregory. The couple spent many years in the Clarkston and Waterford area before moving to Houghton Lake.  The past several years they split their time between Houghton Lake and Mountain Home, Arkansas.  Floyd had attended the Houghton Lake Methodist Church and later the Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church.  He was a past member of the Houghton Lake Masonic Lodge.  Floyd enjoyed woodworking, especially making furniture and finding pieces at a flea market sale, taking them home, reworking them, and selling them again at the flea markets.  Floyd loved spending time on Drummond Island, his favorite spot to be.  His special love, however, was spending time with his friends, and his beloved family.

Surviving Mr. Menzies are his loving wife of over 41 years, Pamela Menzies of Prudenville; daughter, Kimberly Peickert of White Lake; two sons, Curtis Menzies of Burton, and Arthur (Bobbie Jo) Melton of Lake Orion; granddaughter, Destiny(Collin) Pearson of Waterford; grandson, Riley Peickert of White Lake; and great granddaughter, Frankie Pearson.  Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marvin.

A Celebration of Life Service for Floyd A. Menzies will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Floyd are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
