Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Corrina Esther (Anderson) VanBeest died at home on Thursday, March 14th at the age of 54.
Corrina was a bright spirit who enjoyed spending time with her many friends and large family. She spent her working years as an accountant in Roscommon, and for a short time operated Northwoods Bar in Mio.
Before her health began to fail she enjoyed spending time at the beach which she called her “happy place”. She especially enjoyed sports and in summers could be found playing volleyball and softball with local leagues. She loved to go camping and attend music events with friends. She was a member of the women’s bowling league and threw an awesome powerball which team members said ” caused the pins to fall in fear before they got
hit, so they wouldn’t get broken.” She served on the board of the women’s league for many years. Corrina attended Mio United Methodist Church. She spent her school years at Mio AuSable where she excelled in sports and was Homecoming Queen in 1987.
Corrina lived most of her life in the Mio area where she raised three daughters: Taylor (Chad) Knepp, Madison VanBeest and Claire VanBeest. She is survived by her father Dennis (Toni) Anderson. She is also survived by siblings Dorothy (Dan) Belanger, James (Kaylynn) Anderson, Kelvin (Candee Saferian) Anderson, Lynnette (Bob) Fitzsimmons and Helen (Steve) Shastal, as well as many nieces and nephews and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen (Fox) Leaf.
Her beautiful smile and terrific sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
