Gerry C. Wheaton, age 82 of Sand Lake, MI., passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Gerry was born on January 3, 1942 in Ludington, MI., to the late Gerald and Evelyn (Yovich) Wheaton.
Gerry served in the United States Army for approximately 2 years. A portion of that time was in Vietnam during the war. Afterwards, he worked for General Motors, at the Pontiac location, for over 30 years. That was also where he met the love of his life, Virginia Howard. They married and had 2 children. Both he and Virginia eventually retired from GM and settled in Sand Lake.
Gerry enjoyed hunting and taking great care of his yard. He belonged to the VFW (Hale), Eagles Club (Tawas), and Moose Lodge when the Lodge was still operating.
Gerry is survived by his two children, Michael Wheaton and Sheila (David) Williams; brothers, Wayne, Donald, Bradley (Linda); sister, Louis Buter; grandchildren, David Williams Jr., Ashlee Williams, Jordan Anderson; great-grandchildren, Meecsha Williams, Eva Williams, Geeonni Williams, Alaina Anderson, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold services at their family home, 2057 Vaugh Rd. National City / Sand Lake, on March 1, 2024. Visitation at 11:00am. Funeral at 12:00pm. Interment at 1:00pm at Esmond Evergreen Cemetery in Hale with Military Honors. Pastor Tom Harvey officiating.
